Are you a fun guy — or gal?
Then get in on the trend and celebrate the adorable fungi with mushroom decor for every room in your home.
This cottagecore-like trend is really growing, attaching itself to both the fairy-inspired fashion trend, but also the minimalist design aesthetic with simple curves and lines and also the maximalist trend when it comes to bright and cartoon-style shrooms.
The experts at Pinterest know this to be true, and even predicted this psychedelic trend in their 2023 Pinterest Predicts forecast.
“We tend to see that trends come around in a cyclical fashion and right now the 70’s is definitely back in the spotlight,” said Swasti Sarna, global director of insights at Pinterest, to The Post. “With that, we’re seeing Pinterest searches for mushroom decor on the rise. Gen Z in particular is looking for inspiration to incorporate this eclectic motif into their own homes.
A whole forrest of mushroom trends are growing over on the site, as Pinterest and Sarna see that search for “Fantasy mushroom art” is up 170%, “Vintage mushroom decor” up 35% and “DIY mushroom décor” is up 77% from last year — how radical!
The trend can also be interpreted in a few ways, with bright trippy colors but also with subtle shapes and designs.
“The Mush-rooms trend can be very unique and individual to the person, a way to creatively express oneself,” said Sarna. “Adopting this trend into your life can be as simple or as colorful and vibey as you’d like it to be. Gen Z is taking trends and molding them into an aesthetic that doesn’t just fit one person, but all.”
As Sarna said, since mushrooms are super versatile, both in the kitchen and as decor, we foraged for the most popular pieces on the internet, from realistic mushroom-shaped vases to mushroom-inspired lamps and ottomans that take a bit more imagination.
